About heatstroke in dogs

Hello! It's Na-chan!

It's been hot as if summer is in full swing, how are you feeling? ☀

We'll tell you about heatstroke in dogs!

Signs of heatstroke
- Heavy breathing (panting)
Drooling profusely
-Increased heart rate (tachycardia)
- Reluctance to walk, staggering, or curling up on the spot - Dryness of mucous membranes such as gums - CRT (capillary test) of less than 1 second When you press the gums with your finger and release it, measure the time it takes for the blood to return. If it takes less than 1 second, call an emergency department.

First aid methods
・Move the person to a cool place immediately. ・Cool areas with large blood vessels (neck, armpits, groin) by pressing ice packs or wet towels against them.
- Lower your body temperature by taking a cold bath

Unlike humans, dogs have a limited ability to sweat. They use their tongues to regulate their body temperature, but this has its limitations on hot days.
Regarding summer dog clothing: Sensitivity to heat varies depending on the length and density of the hair and the breed. Dogs with long or thick hair are more sensitive to heat. It may be better to avoid dressing these breeds in clothes, especially on hot days.
Regulate your dog's body temperature appropriately depending on its breed!

When dressing your baby in clothes, use thin, breathable cotton or moisture-absorbing materials, and choose clothes that fit well and don't restrict movement!

Avoid direct sunlight, choose a cool place to spend time, and make sure to stay hydrated so you and your dog can have a fun summer 🌻

Have a nice day ♪
